It was a musical affair at Whistling Woods International as India's current most popular singer and Filmfare Award winner for best playback singer Arijit Singh mesmerized the entire crowd of 300 students in his interactive session of 5th VEDA. The event started with Mr. Subhash Ghai paying his tribute to late Mr. Abdul Kalam and one minute silence was observed by all.

An av was shown to all which depicted evolution of Music and playback singing followed by a solo performance on an old song by a student. As Arijit Singh took over the stage, the entire auditorium roared with cheers and applause. He spoke about his childhood which was mostly spent in him practicing classical music and how his initial motivation to make it big when a reality show was launched in 2004. He said, "I mostly practiced modern Bengali and Indian classical. My guru ji Rajendra Prasad Hazari inspired me to practice more of modern singing as according to him Indian classical was dying."
He positioned himself comfortably with his guitar and sang a Bengali song in his magical voice. He further talked about most important aspects of singing and said, "Singing is like talking. It is an art of expression. There are other factors too but they all follow on once you understand your lyrics and rhythm well. There are no rules. You just have to practice a lot."
He was joined by music composer and producer Sunny who enlightened about the nuances of Music Composition to the students. He said, " We should keep learning throughout life and sometimes go by our instincts and not books. Always have your basics right."
Arijit Singh spoke about singing in the movies and said, " I know previously the singer had to understand the situation and scene but it doesn't happen these days. There is no coordination so you have to understand things on your own. One should ask the Director as he understands the essence of the song best."
He later spoke about his stint at a reality singing show of which he was a runner up. He said, " I never thought I would do playback singing. I left everything behind and was in a cage as I couldn't relate to anything because there was no Indian classical singing. I felt lost at that time and had to make a decision. However I ended up as a runner up."
He confessed that he is a romantic at heart which depicts in his singing as he hummed an unreleased song exclusively for the students. The event concluded with Arijit Singh performing the song demanded by students leaving the atmosphere electric.
