Highasakite(Try pronouncing like this: High-as-a-kite) is a Norwegian indie pop band consisting of Ingrid Helene Håvik (on vocals), Trond Bersu (drums), Øystein Skar (synths), Marte Eberson (synths) and Kristoffer Lo (guitar, percussion and flugabone). Their album ‘Silent Treatment’ created history in Norway by being on top for more than 92 weeks.

Highasakite? Why conjoined and not separate? The reason for choosing this as your band's name.

We just find it prettier, the name itself comes from Elton John`s «Rocket man».

Both the song, the expression and the name means a lot to different people from different places. For us it’s about the picture of a kite in the skies. And the feeling you get from picturing it.

How did you guys all meet and decide to form the band?

Trond first meet Ingrid on the jazz-conservatory in Trondheim. On our first album I also joined in on keyboards. After playing as a trio for quite some time, Krisstoffer and Marte joined in on guitar and keyboards. We are all old friends from different periods in our lives.

You album has created history back in Norway by staying on top for 92 Weeks. Where do you go from here? How does it feel like to have such a great start?

It’s just amazing and hard to explain. Things are going very well for us a lot of places on earth and we are so grateful that people are listening to us!!! Hopefully it will be 92 weeks more. It´s actually 94 weeks now!

What's so special about 'Silent Treatment?' I know for sure that it is something dark. If you could describe it for us.

We really don’t want to explain too much about the music, because we want the listeners to make their own stories, and to listen on our music with clean ears and clean brains!

You guys are currently opening for of Monsters and Men (oMaM). What's that like? Any plans of going solo soon?

We have been going solo for some time, with focus on countries like Australia, Japan, and USA, where things are going very well for us at the moment. Opening for OMAM was such great in many ways for us. In the end it was total of 29 concerts together I think, they are such nice people and we became good friends and both bands wants to meet again in the future. But first we have to focus on our own album! We are also coming back to Hoxton Hall in February. It´s already sold out I think.

Tell us about your recent albums and the ones you will be launching if any.

Our next album is our 3 and like I said earlier in the interview we really want our listeners to make up their own stories. But I can say that we play electronic pop music, and that our second album «Silent Treatment» is about the silent wars going on in relationships.

What aspect about your music do you think appeals to the listeners?

That’s hard to say something about because I feel that every listener listen to our music in their own personal way.
